There exists a big issue with this picture. First of all what is it trying to say? Goku can kill the entire Marvel and DC universe all on his lonesome? The Dragonball saga is superior to the Marvel and DC universe because Goku is stronger?

Fallacious arguments all the same and I’ll explain to you why. First off I want to preface this by saying I love the Dragonball saga (and when I say Dragonball saga I mean Dragonball, Z-GT) because it was just what I wanted to see at a pre-pubescent age. Fast, explosive, violence. When you watch the right thing at the right age, you’ll always have a nostalgic attachment to it, this we can’t deny.

However, in the Dragonball saga we see the vast majority of issues, if not all issues are solved in one way. Fast, explosive, violence. Let’s look at the questions I have postured, “Can Goku kill the entire universe on his lonesome?” My answer is no, I have seen characters such as Thanos control reality as a God, ascended to a level where he could simply will you out of existence. You cannot fight someone who can literally think you away. But let’s say Goku could kill the entirety of both universes, all it proves is that Goku is stronger, more powerful. So what? Does that automatically place higher stock in the Dragonball saga? Goku is the strongest therefore Dragonball is better? Nah. GTFO

I’ve been reading comic-books since I could read, now in my twenty plus years of reading comic-books I have seen problems in Marvel and DC handled with things besides hyper-violence. Returning to Thanos, after he became God and destroyed reality, killing everything, and dismantling the entire universe, he won. But he also lost, he became God of a void. It was his desperate final attempt to impress the only person he’s ever loved, Mistress Death. The abstract personality of Death itself. After realizing she would never love him, and also realizing he was God of nothingness, a void, he restored the universe. Philosophy and higher levels of thinking solved this existential crisis. In contrast, Dragonball hardly ever solved things without the use of violence.

All in all, if you place a value judgement on something, know what you’re talking about, research the topic. Most Dragonball heads I’ve met only have watched the Dragonball saga and seen the superhero movies that are flooding Hollywood today. Their knowledge is weak. I too have watched Dragonball through Z and GT. I also read comic-books, it’s been a lifelong passion as a matter of fact. As much as I love the Dragonball saga because of my nostalgic attachment, I do realize as I take a step back in my adult years, it has always lacked depth. Whilst Marvel and DC stories continue to change the world through the deep stories they tell that discuss issues other than the propagation of high speed violence

Thank you, that is all.

ZooCast! episode 10: The MorrisonCon Tapes Part Deux or Zombie Giraffes and the Pre Apocalypse

Hail Travelers!

A bit of a longer episode this week but its worth it.  We were lucky enough to be able to sit down with Robert Kirkman( Walking Dead..as if you dont know) at MorrisonCon for some in-depth discussions of zombified fauna and his gripe with Marvel and DC.  We also got a second to sit down with - well.. we were actually standing up, but thats beyond the point - Akira The Don who spoke on several panels during the occasion.  Beyond all that we’ll be relating stories from our journey to Las Vegas and the Con that made me stop worrying and love the bomb.

-MorrisonCon Melted My Brain pt 2

-Words had with Akira The Don

-Clouded Memories from an Unforgettable Night

-Robert Kirkman, “The monkeys are the best!”

ZooCast! Episode 9: MorrisonCon Part 1

It’ll take quite a bit of time and self reflection before I’m able to summarize MorrisonCon in a way that’ll do it justice.  So for now I’m going to take a page out of Casey Anthony’s book and dish out some injustice.  MorrisonCon was off the chain. I met a lot of good people, and chummed it up with many of my favorite creators in the industry.  In this segment of ZooCast! we’re gonna talk a bit a bout the Con of all Con’s [MorrisonCon] but we felt that instead of just talking about something that has past already, why not just take yall there with some interviews from the Con itself.  Any who, here’s the rundown:

-MorrisonCon melted my brain

-Interview with Jason Aaron wielder of the mightiest beard of all. (Scalped, Wolverine, Wolverine and the X-men, Thor: God of Thunder, Avengers vs. X-men)

-Final Thoughts on Avengers vs. X-Men

-Interview with Darick Robertson the Six String Samurai (Transmetropolitan, Punisher: Born, The Boys, Happy!)

Hail listeners!

You may be wondering to yourself: “Why the f*ck hasn’t there been any new ZooCast! episodes up lately!?” but maybe not. Wally and I intend to get right back into the mix of things next week with some new episodes that’ll make sweet luvv to your ears, and maybe put a little perk in your pants, teehee. We had a recent trip to LA last weekend to have our last ‘huzzah’ for our dear friend Luke before he goes to NYC to continue in his promising writing career. Also to check out the Blu & Exile record release party at the LA Stussy Store. So don’t trip, we’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere anytime soon. You’ll still get your double dose of comicbook, film, gaming, and all other geek-speak, nerd-talk bullshit we like to throw at you guys. See you next week for our new episodes! -Jamey
